It’s my birthday today, and instead of just cake and candles, I thought I’d do something a little different—something personal. Running a brand often means staying focused on the mission, the clients, the growth… but behind every brand is a real human with stories, struggles, and quirks that rarely make it to the spotlight. So today, I’m pulling back the curtain. In celebration of my new year, I’m sharing parts of my journey you probably don’t know—the behind-the-scenes, the heart behind the hustle, and everything in between. Let’s get real.

What’s your full name (or the name people know you by)?

My full name is Udokwu Chibuzor Matthias Ohimai, Over the last 10 years till date people know me more by Matthias, in my early childhood days to high school (secondary school) I was known as Chibuzor. Although I have other fun names like nicknames, like Ugordondor, Ugordor for short (high school comedy nickmame)

Where are you from, and where are you based now?

I hail from a royal family in Anambra state, Obosi precisely, I am based in Lagos, Nigeria.

What’s one fun or random fact about you most people don’t know?

I am a 24hours happy party person within.

2. Your Personal Side

What’s something you’re passionate about outside of business?

Making the world a better place particularly with our way of life.

What’s a childhood memory that shaped who you are today?

I created an educational tutorial center for high school students at age 17 (Gurus Academy) about two years after my graduating from high school, the ability to have done that, paid my co-teachers salary fee for teaching at such a young age truly that shaped something about me.

Who has had the biggest impact on your personal growth?

My Mentor, My Boss, took me up from teaching to tech and we attended lots of prominent and motivating events that helped, contributed and evolved my personal growth.

What do you do to unwind when you’re not working?

I play, play station games (Ps Vita precisely) a few times mobile games and I do lots of music too, a few times i rap.

Why did you start your brand/business?

The need to be of success normally as a fulfilled purpose in life, the need to have a sustainable decent living that spreads across, featuring to collectively enhance livelihood for all.

What were you doing before this?

I was husting the hustle being a multi-hustler, went back into teaching also in the marketing field, commercial to real estate sector and managing social media accounts and websites for brands. Industries such as a Travel Agency, Trade Fair, Fitness & Beauty Company amongst others. Tbh I have worked for a number of companies.

What was the biggest fear or doubt you had when you started?

Don’t think there’s a particular fear or doubt even when I started, like Burna Boy said in his music “No Sign Of Weakness”, yeah when I started it was all illuminated no fears or doubt with the brand.

Can you share a “pivot moment” or failure that changed your path for the better?

A failure was when I had to leave university not graduating, knowing how much of a failure that was, the stigma changed my life for better.

What does a typical day in your life look like?

  • In the typical mornings, I start with the laptop surfing the internet browsing and blogging
  • In the typical afternoon, I’m indoors, cooking, watching tv or playing game
  • In the typical evening, I’m unwinding from my social media engagements during the day

What part of running your business do people assume is easy (but isn’t)?

Running the day-to-day activities of blogging, web managing and social media postings. No be child’s play lol.

What’s one task you secretly enjoy that others might hate?

I enjoy poking generally, and some people might not like it when you poke them especially to a certain degree.

Any quirky habits or rituals that help you stay focused?

None.

I’m physically disabled… however it is not obvious and not a bad bad condition. Thankful for life irrespective.

What’s a big dream or goal you haven’t shared publicly yet?

I have a goal to be one of the biggest companies in my niche in Africa & globally.

How do you want to evolve in the next year (personally or professionally)?

I believe in collaboration, professional collaboration and intimate collaboration having the right persons on the journey with me.

What kind of legacy do you want to build?

Generational, probably royalty indoctrinated to really remind us of who we are and what we can be once we set our mind to it.
