…Wike, Okowa Welcome Edo Gov To Party

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has disclosed that he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to sustain the good governance he has implemented in the state.
Obaseki, who on Friday officially announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP, stated while receiving the party card which was presented to him by the PDP ward 4 Chairman, that the party will cruise to victory come September this year.
According to him, ‘I believe in the party structure of the PDP from unit level to the national level, I assure you as fellow party members, I will lead this party to victory.
Recall that PDP made the announcement of Obaseki’s defection via its official twitter handle on Friday.
“The governor of Edo State, H. E. Governor Obaseki has defected to our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig. The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of our party in Benin city, Edo State. Power to the people.”
Obaseki was at the PDP secretariat in Benin-City to pick up his membership card. He was received by the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon Tony Aziegbemi.
The Edo state governor, resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, hours before the Court of Appeal affirmed the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has welcomed Obaseki to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike took to his Twitter page to share a picture of Obaseki collecting his membership form at the PDP Secretariat in Edo State.
In the same vein, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has lauded the decision of Obaseki to join the party.
Okowa stated this via his official twitter handle on Friday, where he assured him that the party would work towards retaining his power.
“I welcome my brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to our great party, the People’s Democratic Party! As you join us on this platform, we shall work to ensure that you continue the great work that you have started for the people of Edo State
Also, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan has congratulated Obaseki for pitting tent with the party ahead of the Edo Governorship election, slated for September.
Kola via his official twitter handle welcomed Obaseki to the party.
