Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was again on target as Galatasaray defeated Kayserispor 3-0 on Sunday to win the Turkish Super Lig, five days after the Lions were crowned winners of the Turkish Cup.

Osimhen, 24, netted in the 26th minute of the encounter, rising highest to meet Gabriel Sara’s cross to put his club ahead.

That goal was all special as Hailey, the Nigerian striker’s daughter, announced his father as the scorer.

Three minutes later, Baris Alper Yilmaz scored the second for the night. While Osimhen is the Turkish side’s designated penalty taker, he allowed goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to take the spot kick.

The 38-year-old Uruguayan, expected to leave the club after 14 years at the end of the season, hit the back of the net as Galatasaray romped to a 3-0 victory, earning them the Champions tag.

Although there are two matches left in the Turkish League, Galatasaray’s victory took them to an unassailable 89 points, eight ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in second place.

The latest win was Galatasaray’s 25th Super Lig title and came days after they beat Trabzonspor to win the Turkish Cup. Osimhen, who is on a season-long loan from Napoli in Italy, struck a brace in that match, extending his sterling form this campaign.

Sunday’s goal took Osimhen’s league tally to 25 this season. When he got a brace last Wednesday, the Super Eagles broke a 24-year-old record to become the highest-scoring prolific foreign player ever in Turkish football. He eclipsed Brazilian legend Mario Jardel’s record of 34 goals in a campaign.

Losing out on silverware, meanwhile, could trigger Mourinho’s departure from Fenerbahce one year before the end of his contract, local media suggest.

Mourinho’s team were last crowned champions 11 years ago, and were undone this season by failing to win any of the four Istanbul derbies against Galatasaray and Besiktas.

The pressure got to Mourinho. After losing in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals to Galatasaray last month, he grabbed the face of their coach, Okan Buruk.
